Summary

R-113 is a colorless and odorless CFC refrigerant that was completely banned from production by 1996 under the Montreal Protocol for depleting the ozone. R-113 is used as a refrigerant in cooling systems, a foam-blowing agent, and a cleanser for electrical equipment. R-113 is typically stored in violet drums or containers.

Most Common Replacements:

R-123 (HCFC), being phased out in 2020 for the United states and other developed countries.
